Hack the Interview 1.0

Participants were given the opportunity of joining the session online with no data charges through Learn Zoom. Hence a massive participation of around 150 was noticed throughout the session marking the success of the session at the same time. Ms. Kamani Sylva started the session by focusing on the importance of improving interviewing skills of an undergraduate way before passing out from the university. Also she mentioned the common errors noticed in a CV and gave many tips in order to create a distinctive CV. During the latter half of the session, the speaker talked briefly about the preparations that an interviewee should do before an interview and ways to face an offline interview. She mainly focused on how to face an online video/ phone interview. She talked about the common mistakes that interviewees do during online interviews, common questions that any interviewee could get during an online interview and also gave several tips to excel at an online interview. 

At the end of the session, participants received a special opportunity to witness an online mock interview where Mr. Mahanama Dissanayake, who is a senior lecturer at Department of Engineering Management and Ms.Kamani Sylva represented an interview panel and Mr. Praveen Dassanayake, a final year engineering undergraduate represented an interviewee. Some general questions were asked by the panel and most appropriate answers were given by Praveen. At the end of the mock interview, given answers were evaluated and their pros and cons were explained by Ms. Kamani Sylva and Mr. Mahanama Dissanayake. In addition, the participants were also given the chance to ask questions regarding the session and they were answered by the speaker. The session concluded after a successful 1hr duration. A valuable certificate was given to every participant after the session.
