An Embedded System Engineer

The talk ‘An Embedded Systems Engineer’ was organized by IEEE Sri Lanka - Central Region Sub Section in collaboration with IET On Campus University of Peradeniya. The event was successfully held on 2 nd December  2020 from 4.00pm to 5.00pm via Zoom. The keynote speaker was Eng. Pradeepa Senanayaka who holds BSc Electrical and Electronic Engineering as well as MSc Electrical and Electronic Engineering degrees of University of Peradeniya.

He also is a former associate tech lead at Embedded Systems Zone 24x7, Sri Lanka, former Advanced Innovative Engineer at Twinery by MAS industrial automation, former railway signaling systems engineer at Aldridge Railway Signaling, Sydney and currently works on Biomedical Product Development related to sleep apnoea as an Embedded Software Engineer at ResMed, Sydney. There were more than 100 participants joined in this talk. At the beginning of the talk Eng. Pradeepa sorted out some products that are frequently used in our day to day lives. And he gave some guidelines about how to develop an embedded system in few steps using simple block diagrams. Further he shared his experience on railway signaling system, how it was developed and how the accuracy of that kind of system is affected to the safety of the community. Then, he gave some idea about the project that he is currently working on that is the sleep therapy device which can indicate the health status of a person in a sleep. Finally, he highlighted some key skills to be developed to success as an embedded system engineer.
